A wonderful named Mess Dress Uniform of Major General William C. Set includes the 1938 style (though it has a different number of buttons on the front) white dress tunic top and general striped wool trousers. The shoulders bear two beautifully aged, gold bullion Officer's epaulettes which are matching. They are of the screw down type.

The sleeves are covered in white General's lace/braid of the proper width and type. Above the cuff braids are two General's stars of the proper color and material. The lining is the full body type and in great shape other than a small area of staining around one of the inside tailor's tags. A tag within on interior pocket reads "Lautenstein's, Uniforms of Distinction, San Antonio" and was filled in with the name and date Wm.

As a final embellishment is a tag with General Bullock's personal name monogram which is sewn above the interior pocket. There is a set of crossed pistol collar brass which came with the uniform though I didn't see any indication of him serving in any capacity in the military police during his career.

Interesting highlights of his career are that he landed in Normandy on D-Day and became the Executive Officer responsible for coordinating the artillery fire for the entire VII Corp of the 1st US Army. He served in this combat position all through France, Belgium and into Germany. He was also the commanding General of Camp Desert Rock, Nevada and the Exercise Director for Desert Rock IV in 1953 (for atomic tests including the 1st atomic shell fired from a cannon).

There is a full history of his very interesting and colorful military career. This uniform is dated June 14th, 1965.
