The US Army issued the powerful. 45 during WW2, and it was most often carried in a rugged leather holster worn on the pistol belt. This US Army USMC Marine WW2 COLT 1911. 45 BOYT M-1916 LEATHER PISTOL HOLSTER is in excellent condition, with some light scattered scuffing to the front flap, some light scratching at the middle back, some light whitish residue present in the maker and date mark at the upper back, as well as in the belt slits at that upper back, some verdigris to the darkened brass hardware throughout, and with some light scattered age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the holster is in excellent shape, with absolutely no rips, holes, tears, or other damage to the supple, pliant, and gorgeous "saddle" brown leather construction. Most interestingly, it bears the classic oval "US" stamping with serifs at front, carries the original sewn leather "block" inside, and is marked at the upper back with its maker, the famous "BOYT", above the date, "-44-" (1944). It boasts a fully functional darkened brass stud closure front flap, sports a fully intact darkened brass wire hanger at the top reverse, and features the original, elegantly coiled brown rawhide leather tie down thong laced through the bottom grommet.
