(J353) For sale here is a very rare pair of US WW2 Unit Marked Armored Triangle S Tanker Bibs. This is a nicely worn pair of bibs that have a black paint stenciled Armored Triangle over the letter S on the side of each leg.
I have seen one other pair of these, and they turned up overseas. My guess is that the S is for Armored School. Otherwise, the bibs are pretty standard.
They are made of dark khaki cotton fabric and are lined in OD wool. They feature 13 star buttons for the shoulder straps.
The main zipper is a Conmar, the front slot is a Prentice, and the side reach throughs are Streamlines. The slides for the shoulder straps do have a little surface rust, but they work well. The outside of the pants show good honest period wear, soiling, a few stains, and a few piques and small holes in the seat and crotch. Inside, the wool shows soiling and dust. The tag states that these bibs are a size small made by H.
