Original Wwii Army

US Army Air Forces B-17 bombers ran a gauntlet of fire from flak and fighters in the hotly contested skies over Occupied Europe. Although there was constant danger, the bomber was at its most vulnerable during the last 60 seconds of the run. At that point, the bombardier took over the controls and had to fly the plane straight and level through incoming fire from all directions, until he pressed the bomb release and announced Bombs Away! AAF bombardiers of WW2 often wore beautifully made wings on their dress jackets to denote their qualification, and some had those wings made into custom bracelets by removing the pin posts, curling the wings themselves, and adding a wrist chain to the tips.

This US Army AAF WW2 STERLING SILVER BOMBARDIER WINGS CUSTOM BRACELET is in very good condition, with only some scattered scratching, patina, and age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the bracelet is in fine shape, with absolutely no cracking or other damage. Most interestingly, it was custom made during the period by removing the pin posts from the back (a small spot of darkening at each side of the reverse shows where they were once attached), curling the wings themselves, and adding a wrist chain to the tips.

The bracelet boasts the classic "bomb on target" design at middle, sports elegant detailing around the front, and is simply marked "STERLING" in relief vertically along the middle left back. It features a beautiful linked wrist chain with a fully functional clasp, which is also stamped "STERLING", and the wings themselves measure 3" long from tip to tip, while the piece overall measures 6 1/4" long from end to end. A very rare, original Egyptian. Gulf War "SCRAMBLED EGGS" CAMO COMBAT SHIRT. Retaining a great amount of the vibrant Egyptian "scrambled eggs" camouflage colors, and carrying the original Arabic maker's label at the inside neck.
