Ww2 War Images Negatives & Contact Sheets 50 Vtg Original Omaha B&w Us Army
These photographs were found in the estate of an enlisted Navy photographer during World War II. George Fulmer Was also a photographer for his entire life serving the community of Clearwater Florida for 60 years after the war. I removed only a couple to show you.
There are eight packs all in very good condition Containing a total of about 50 negatives. The contact sheets are in good condition. There are a couple of duplicate images on them and one that is even double exposed.
These are original negatives from World War II. At first I wasn't certain but you can see on close inspection one of the signs refers to Omaha.
These are not negatives of other photos. I believe these were sent to our photographer for developing in his studio where he kept the negatives and the contact sheets. No enlargements or any other of these images were found in the estate. The original envelope in which I believe they were mailed to the photographer is included & marked censored. You are getting everything that you see here. Most of the war photos we have offered so far have been U. Navy because that is where our photographer served. So this is a rare find for our estate. George's studio and dark rooms were located next to the Clearwater courthouse for more than a half a century. 10 years ago that building was demolished. Follow our account for more. A Photographer for the city of Clearwater for over half a century. Also a Navy enlisted photographer during WW2. After cleaning out the 7000sq ft residence & photography studio & darkrooms in 2014, we have been sorting through over 100,000 photographs on & off for the last 10 years, and are finally offering some of the best ones up for sale individually. We hope to Bring recognition to his life's work as well as to find homes for some parts of the history of an entire city as documented by the city photographer. Parts of the collection are being held together by the estate for exhibition purposes in the future. Holding a piece from this collection will be rare.
Much of the contents from the estate were taken by the historical society before we were asked to go inside. The photographs we hold from this estate, include everything you would've expected a city photographer to have been present for; from weddings, to new construction, aerial photographs, sporting events, school events, press photography, police, Jaycees, and a really nice, but VERY LIMITED collection of nude photographs, some possibly from a nudist camp that is still in operation here today. Even more limited, there were a handful of his war era photographs that we were able to save.
The photos that are being offered here, were well preserved, found inside the home and studio, in a cool, dry, cellar type setting. George did a lot of work for the newspapers so you'll see things pertaining to Clearwater Florida, much of it from the early 1950s.
Being in the same location next to the Clearwater courthouse for over half a century, he was also entrusted with and gifted many photographs that go back to the late 1800s that were left behind and are currently in our collection. Some of those will be offered here as well.
This is quite a project for only two curators, so please follow us, and be patient as we slowly unveil the contents of this massive estate. And always, if you see something that you like, please make an offer!
