Dienstuhr Heer Militäruhr German Army WW2 Military Watch Swiss Made. This superb ZENITH mechanical wristwatch dates from the time of the Second World War. It was made in Switzerland by the famous Swiss watchmaking firm of Zenith for the Germany Army. This example bears the military contract serial number'D. Zenith always used this curved system, which was machine engraved. Zenith fitted an inner movement protector to all the watches supplied to the German Army. The Zenith movement was of particularly high quality, manufactured from brass and mercuric gold plated. 12.4.6 on this watch is numbered 3438870. The mechanism of this watch is truly a work of art, and a credit to the maker.

The case was manufactured in stainless steel. The preferred material used for premium military watches of the period. The stainless steel case back bears the typical Zenith curved'D-H' number externally.

To the inside it is beautifully engine turned, and is impressed with the Zenith logo, the designation,'ACIER INOXYDABLE (Stainless steel). The watch has the "sub-seconds" dial typical of the military style of the period. The attractive black face of the watch still retains most of the original luminous coating on the hands & numbers. The watch is approximately 34mm in diameter.

It runs smoothly, and keeps good time. As with any vintage mechanical watch of this age, having it serviced is recommended for optimum performance. This is an outstanding example of a vintage WW2 German Army D.
