Wwii Japanese Army Type 98 Shin-gunto Koshirae Steel Saya Takemitsu Blade F15

Included to keep the koshirae properly fitted and safe for display. Type 98 Army officer koshirae with the locking button/latch style.
Steel scabbard (saya) with dark brown painted finish. Samegawa (ray-skin) panels under the wrap. Tsuba, seppa and other fittings are present and match well with authentic wartime patina.
Total length (in scabbard): approx. Overall in good condition for an original wartime koshirae. Scabbard paint shows chips/wear, with light surface rust spots in a few areas (see photos). Fittings show honest age patina; structure feels solid.
Habaki is not included / wooden blade installed. Sword stand shown in photos is for display/photography only and is NOT included. No steel blade / no habaki - wooden blade only. *About the wooden blade (Takemitsu) After WWII, Japan introduced strict registration rules for sword blades. Many families turned in unregistered steel blades and kept the original koshirae as a keepsake, often inserting a wooden "takemitsu" to preserve the fit and allow safe display. This set is one of those examples. Please review all photos carefully - they are an important part of the description.
