This is an original, authentic Canadian Army Mess Tin Ration Pack (48-Hour Field Emergency Ration) complete with its original heavy waxed outer box and a comprehensive collection of original internal ration sub-components. During World War II, these waterproofed, heavy-waxed cartons were issued to Canadian soldiers-most notably prior to major amphibious operations like D-Day-to sustain troops for the first 48 hours in the field before field kitchens were established. Finding these cartons with their original sub-assembly paper boxes, tobacco, and food components intact is exceptionally rare.

Detailed Condition & Age Disclosure: Outer Box: The heavy waxed cardboard outer carton has a prominent tear/opening across the front panel revealing the internal contents, along with heavy age and storage wear. Organic Seepage & Fat/Wax Residue: As is typical for authentic 80+ year old military field rations, several of the inner cardboard boxes exhibit dark, hardened staining/crusting along the bottom edges. This historical bleeding was caused by the natural breakdown and liquefaction of internal organic food fats (from the exploded butter tin, cheese, or chocolate) mixing with the melted protective paraffin wax coating over decades of storage.

Component Specifics: The matchbook cover is empty (no matches remain), the small sub-assembly carton is empty, the coffee foil packet has been punctured/opened, and the butter tin shows heavy crusting/leakage around its base seam where contents exploded out.
