Perhaps the most famous painted image of the Soviet Army in WW2. This is a copy of the 1951 painting by Yury Neprintsev, an acclaimed Soviet war artist. "Rest After the Battle" is considered his most important work. The artist painted several versions, one of which now hangs in Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow. This copy is rendered in the traditional manner, by hand, in oil on canvas.
It is not a photographic reproduction, or a print. Large artwork such as this was officially commissioned for display in a public, military or government context.
