THIS 101st AIRBORNE DIVISION VETERAN'S DOUBLE SIDED AMERICAN RED CROSS RECORD FEATURES PVT. I PLAYED THIS RECORD ON MY OLD RECORD PLAYER AND IT'S A BIT SCRATCHY, HAVING A FEW SKIPS FROM THE YEARS BUT BOTH SIDES OF THE RECORD STILL PLAY (SEE AND HEAR THE ABOVE ATTACHED VIDEO OF A SHORT PART OF THE RECORDING). RECORD IS IN GOOD CONDITION, SHOWING OVERALL AVERAGE AGE AND WEAR. RECORD COMES IN IT'S ORIGINAL WELL MARKED PAPER MAILING ENVELOPE.
THE TOP FRONT LEFT CORNER OF THE ENVELOPE FEATURES PVT. DeMARTINO'S MAILING ADDRESS AT THE CAMP BUTNER N. HOSPITAL WHERE HE WAS RECOVERING FROM HIS WAR WOUNDS AND INJURIES IN JUNE OF 1945. ENVELOPE FEAURES A "V" POSTAL MAILING STAMP AND A POSTAL CANCEL INK STAMP DATED FOR JUNE 26, 1945. DeMARTINO MAILED THIS RECORD HOME TO HIS PARENTS IN SYRACUSE NEW YORK. MAILING ENVELOPE SHOWS ITS AGE HAVING SOILING, TEARS AND WEAR. A RARE FIND AND A TRUE TIME CAPSULE TO HEAR AN ACTUAL WW2 U. ARMY 101st AIRBORNE DIVISION GLIDER PARATROOPER TALK AND SING DURING THE WAR WHILE RECOVERING FROM HIS WAR WOUNDS. THIS VETERAN'S ESTATE INCLUDES UNIFORMS, HATS, INSIGNIA, WINGS, PATCHES, FIELD AND PERSONAL GEAR AND HUNDREDS OF WAR TIME LETTERS FROM THIS GLIDER BORNE D-DAY VETERAN. THE 101st AIRBORNE VETERAN'S NAME WAS PVT. ARMY SERIAL NUMBER WAS "32475941". DeMARTINO WAS FROM SYRACUSE NEW YORK AND SERVED STATE SIDE WITH COMPANY "A" OF THE 327th GLIDER INFANTRY OF THE 101st AIRBORNE DIVISION.
DeMARTINO SERVED WITH COMPANY "G" OF THE 327th GLIDER INFANTRY OF THE 101st AIRBORNE DIVISION. DeMARTINO LANDED IN NORMANDY FRANCE ON D-DAY, FOUGHT THRU THE NORMANDY CAMPAIGN (WHERE HE WAS WOUNDED BY A GERMAN MORTAR), OPERATION MARKET GARDEN, BATTLE OF THE BULGE IN BASTOGNE (WHERE HE GOT TRENCH FOOT) AND THRU AUSTRIA/GERMANY IN 1945. AFTER LEAVING AUSTRIA/GERMANY IN 1945 PVT. DeMARTINO RECOVERED FROM HIS WAR TIME WOUNDS AND INJURIES AT A MEDICAL HOSPITAL AT CAMP BUTNER, NORTH CAROLINA BEFORE BEING HONORABLE DISCAHRGED FROM THE U.
