World War II US Army 7th Armor Division Unit History. The Theater Made, heavy, soft cover Unit History covers only the Liberation of France by the Lucky 7 Armor Division. The Book goes up to September 6, 1944, and it was made overseas. Looking at the praises the 7th Armor received from French Mayors of liberated towns and cities the Division seemed to perform quite well.

It is hard to get the exact reason for the relief and demotion; however, it appears the 7th was attached to the British, who assigned the Armor to attack through bogs and swamps. That was not ideal country for tanks. Whether the 7th failed in their task or Silvester objected strenuously I can not determine. The Unit History is a mixture of photos, French letters of thanks with their English translations, and some remarkable combat statistics.

There is a photo of General Patton, that he signed, that is reproduced in the book. There are also similar photos for the 20th Corps Commander Major General Walton Walker and 7th CO then Major General Silvester.

There is a curiosity where Silvester is in a photo with Will Rogers Jr. Highly decorated son of the famous period humorist. There is even some interesting photos showing "Radio Paris", the captured German propaganda broadcast facility in Paris.

Lot of interesting photos in the field, equipment, uniforms, personal camouflage, decorations, reception by the liberated French, wrecked German equipment and vehicles, etc. Fascinating window into the past. The history has paper covers that have separated, and the binding is coming loose. It has been heavily handled and has a lot of heft.

The 7th Armor Theater Made History is 77 years old in heavily worn/handled, about fair condition. WWII US Army Unit Theater Histories.

7th Armor Division Liberation of France; Theater Made History Book, Up to September 6, 1944. Picture of a photo of Patton that he signed, Same for the Division and Corps Commanders. Thick heavy book with copies of photos, text, copies of French letters of thanks for liberated towns, statistics.
