   Here is a very rare item, a WWII US Army arctic parka hand-painted just after the war with GIESSEN YELLOW JACKETS on the back, in reference to the Frankford Yellow Jackets (Philadelphia football team famous in the 1920s). Giessen was a town in Germany occupied by the US Army after the war and a large military base was established there, with over 10,000 American soldiers and their families inhabiting the base at one point.    Army Overcoat Hooded Parka & Brown Pile Liner Size 40 OD. Excellent pile liner WWII Brown type. The buckle for the belt has a raised bar and is made of an iron alloy. If you look at the war production of helmet parts, these were produced from July 1943 to May 1944. The fabric is in very good condition with no holes. OD color is very good with no yellowed sun marks. The front lower snaps could be used to gather hem around the legs. The snaps on the hood could be used to reduce it is size.
