WWII US Army 817th Tank Destroyer Battalion Ike Jacket Uniform & Dog Tags. Army 817th Tank Destroyer Battalion "Ike Jacket" Uniform & Dog Tags: Personnel Identification Disc "Dog Tag" to Ralph J. Damcott T-43 who was Ralph John Damcott b. 31 May 1917 - d. 12 Aug 1988 of Clymer, New York. Then Staff Sergeant Damcott Served with the 817th Tank Destroyer Battalion in the European Theater of Operations, was given a field promotion to 2nd Lieutenant before returning from Europe, and Subsequently Served in the Korean War with a Military Police Company of the 25th Infantry Division.
Damcott's Service Including Two Tank Destroyer SSI Shoulder Patches (different variations) along with pieces from his time as an MP with the 25th Infantry Division in The Korean War: 2nd Lieutenant Bar, 1st Lt Bar, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, Military Police MP Officers Branch Lapel Device, Ribbon Bar of Army of Occupation, Korean War Service with One Star, and United Nations Korea Service, Brass MP Whistle, Korean War 1951 Tetanus Booster Personnel Identification Discs "Dog Tags" along with a WW2 Era Ruptured Duck Tie Bar - Overall Good Issued Condition as Photographed with some wear as seen - Recent Estate Acquisition & Presented as Acquired, Very Rare - Warrants Further Research (See History Below & Photos 21 - 24 for Reference). Unit History: Activated on 1 June, 1942, at Camp Chaffee, Arkansas. Converted to a towed battalion in June 1943.
Helped capture Halle and advanced to the Mulde River where offensive operations ceased. Attached to: 8th, 9th, 78th, 99th, 104th Infantry divisions; 4th, 14th Cavalry groups.
Canlett (6/1/42), Major William H. 16, 1944 to Jan 25, 1945. NOTE: As far as I know, they were not officially given credit for the Ardennes, but each of the men that served in the unit have credit for the campaign on their discharges.
