WWII US Army Ike Jacket 38R 1944 Staff Sergeant CIB Sterling Combat Uniform Set. This original World War II U. Army uniform tells the story of a soldier who not only served-but saw combat. The set includes a 1944-dated enlisted Ike jacket paired with its matching wool trousers, both preserved in very good vintage condition. The jacket bears the insignia of a Staff Sergeant, reflecting a non-commissioned officer who carried responsibility in the field.

Most notably, the uniform features a sterling Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB)-one of the most respected awards of WWII-granted only to infantrymen who engaged in active ground combat. The badge shows a natural aged patina and is clearly marked "STERLING" on the reverse, confirming early wartime manufacture. Above the pocket sits a ribbon bar representing wartime service, including the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, American Campaign Medal, and WWII Victory Medal. Two overseas service bars on the sleeve indicate extended time deployed abroad during the war.

The shoulder patch represents Army Service Forces, suggesting this soldier may have transitioned into a support or logistical role later in his service-something commonly seen in veterans who had already experienced front-line combat. Additional details include a rifle marksmanship badge with enamel bar, honorable discharge insignia ("Ruptured Duck"), and a handwritten laundry number inside the jacket-small but meaningful traces of the individual who once wore it.

This is not just a uniform-it is a preserved piece of a soldier's journey through World War II. From combat infantry service to continued duty supporting the war effort, the elements of this set come together to tell a quiet but powerful story. Very good vintage condition with light wear consistent with age. Pants is missing button and leg has very small hole.
