World War Two American military uniform. (scarce second model / 2nd pattern).
Hard to find' thick wool -doe skin style. Approximately modern size 40 - 42. In that it has the names of two (maybe even three) soldiers marked inside. (it has evidence of having a triangular' armored corps' patch at one time. There is also a name written on the inner pocket tag, but it's hard to read.
Made of thick heavy duty O. It comes with the original belt. A fairly decent example - although it has a slight patina from period use. It shows signs of typical wear.
The armpit liner has been hand re-sewn. (likely from when the unit / division patches were period removed). A quick brushing with a brass bristle clothing brush will make it look new again. The buttons show evidence of age. Easily buffed off if desired.
Again - the inner liner around the arm holes show signs of period hand stitching - likely done when adding or removing unit patches or rank chevrons. Perfect for living history re enactors. You won't need to worry about damaging or wearing out a'pristine / mint' example. Well used but not abused. These early style wool jackets are getting extremely difficult to find today.
Don't pass it up! Vintage World War Two US military winter coat. Good enough to wear - and scarce enough to collect! Sone times called' officers style.
But enlisted men were issued these too. US Army World War II Mackinaw. Also called the "Jeep Coat".
18 shoulder seam to shoulder seam along the upper back. 18 pit to cuff along the inner arm seam. 19 across the middle front.
(just above the pockets - when buttoned & laid down flat). 34 measures down the back, from collar seam to bottom of the tail hem. The second style was issued in 1942. It was similar to the first, with the distinguishing factor being the lack of the darker blanket wool collar.
The third pattern, issued in 1943, had no belt and the rounded collar was replaced by a notched collar. The third pattern "Jeep Coat" was a limited issue item, being replaced by the Model 1943 Field Jacket. Vintage USA uniform mans coat.
