Original NOS Mattress Cover WWII 1942 Dated US Army Medical Department. Scarce Medical Department contracted example in unissued condition as used in hospitals and Army posts in Conus and overseas during WWII and for decades after. End flap stamped MD STANDARD. Contract stamp inside of end flap reads. New Old Stock 1942 contract mattress cover removed from the original packing crate. Unfolded for photos for the first time since WWII. This cover was on the bottom of the crate and has a small square of discoloration from contact the kraft paper lining of the crate.
See last photo for end panel markings on packing crate showing original 1942 markings with post 1947 Joint Army Navy medical stock number and then subsequently post 1955 Federal Stock Numbers added.
