WWII Swiss Army M1918 Helmet. 1943 all Helmets, Canteens and Mess Kits were withdrawn and overpainted grey / black because they were shining in the moonlight when wet.
Helmets were overpainted with a mixture of sawdust and black paint. The black painting is coming off now and you can see the original green paint underneath. Helmet has still his red painted serial number. Chinstrap is broken as shown.
