You have found a 100% Genuine WW2 Japanese Army Officer sword! Also known as Type 98 Shin Gunto or Yasukunito! Sword is chisel signed " Yasumitsu ". Obverse tang reads " Showa Jusan-Nen Hatchi-Gatsu Kichi Jitsu ". Yasumitsu's real name is Ikeda Shuji. Born in Yamagata Prefecture in Nov. A master swordsmith of Nihonto Tanrenkai located at the Yasukuni Shrine. No more than 1100 blades were produced by Yasumitsu at Yasukuni Shrine. Listed in John Slough's book page 186. Cutting edge is a little over 26 inch. Entire sword in scabbard is 40 inch.
