WWII Original US Army Air Corps Named A-2 Flight Jacket, 22nd Bomb Sq

This is an original WWII US ARMY AIR CORP A-2 FLIGHT JACKET, size 38, worn by C. Name written on a leather tag right below its Chinese Version of his name, also written on a leather tag. A Theater made 22nd Bomb Squadron, 10th Army Air Force Patch, right below the name tags, is a 4 ½ in diameter cotton patch embroidered on twill.

There is a China Blood Chit sewn inside the right front of the jacket creating a large deep pocket, which is very fragile, because of its age. On the opposite side there 12X8 Silk United States Flag, which is in distressed condition, but that appears to have been glued to the jacket to prevent further damage to it.

Very unique features rarely found on A-2 flight jackets of its time. 27798 Contract that called for the manufacture of 10,000 of these jackets on 26 December 1941. The Jacket is in excellent condition for its age. It shows gently handled wear.

It is very well preserved with all its leather in intact condition, with the exception of a rip the top of its collar. The back of the jacket features a stencil painted name " Strike ". The leather is still soft on its body with a little stiffer sleeves with a perfect brown patinated color. Twik zipper with two areas of missing teeth, two on the bottom and three about three inches from the bottom. The lining is in excellent condition all throughout. Great condition with the exception of a couple of rips in the neck area. The original waistband is whole, with a few holes and a small tear on front left side.

Its wright cuff is whole with an area o shredding on its inner side. Its left cuff it is also whole with a one-inch tear.

Overall, this is an excellent example of WWII fighter pilot A-2 leather jacket that will stand out in your WWII display, but, that is also in wearable condition.
