US Army 473rd Infantry Regiment was created very late in WW2, fighting in the Italian campaign from January 1945. Assembled from re-roled and re-trained Anti Aircraft Artillery (AAA) units no longer needed at that stage of the war, the unit was nicknamed'Flakfeet'.
