   Up for sale is an original unique piece of art. This item was most likely handmade by/for someone assigned to the 1284th combat engineer battalion during WWII. The all walnut wood display piece is roughly 8 long, 7.5 tall, and 2.75 wide. The shield hanging in the middle looks to be hand painted. The magpie holds the severed heads of Hirohito and Hitler. Given the detail of this item I would imagine it was displayed by a unit commander or officer. The 1284th was deployed the European and Asian theaters during WWII. This is truly a beautiful piece.    SCARCE Original World War II 3 Inch Sterling Silver Army Air Corps Flight Engineer Wings. This beautiful, heavy, full size, 3 inch WWII Army Air Corps Flight Engineer sterling wing was stamped from a thick sheet of sterling silver, generating a flat backed badge (not scooped out as many examples are). The wings are a very robust-looking design, with moderate, untouched, obverse patina.
