WWII Swiss Army M1918 Helmet. 1943 all Helmets, Canteens and Mess Kits were withdrawn and overpainted grey / black because they were shining in the moonlight when wet. Helmets were overpainted with a mixture of sawdust and black paint. The black painting is coming off now and you can see the original green paint underneath.
