Helmets were overpainted with a mixture of sawdust and black paint. The black painting is coming off now and you can see the original green paint underneath. WW2 GERMAN ARMY COMBAT HELMET WITH CROSS WIRE CAMO. COMPLETE WITH LINER, WITH WRITTEN NAME OF THE SOLDIER. THE SHELL IS NICE WITHOUT ANY CRACKS OR DENTS, WITH ABOUT 70% OF ORIGINAL PAINT. THERE ARE SOME PITTINGS ON THE SURFACE, NOT DEEP, CONSISTENT WITH AGE AND USE. MARKED ON THE RIM WITH BATCH NUMBER 2580 AND MAKER/SIZE Q66. RARE ORIGINAL WWII US ARMY M1 HELMET MEDIC CUSTOM PAINTEDLINER-MINE SAFTEY APPLIANCES.   

Original WWII transitional Westinghouse M1 helmet liner with the folded nape webbing, with hand-painted MP and 187 marking, white band and name inside. There is an overpainted decal'P' from a previous MP marking as well. This liner was used into the Korean War given the multiple repaints and Korean War sweatband. Overall a nice example of an MP liner. Decent condition with some paint loss and corrosion on the metal rivets. International buyers: Do NOT ask me to lie on custom's forms.
