The Factory Trace: Verified by a yellow inspector's fingerprint inside the crown. Wartime Wear: Features an authentic front stress crack and a snapped bale, both classic traits of brittle early-war Hadfield manganese steel. The Navy Career: Transformed into a Navy Damage Control / Firefighter helmet, designated by the red rim and red paint remnants on the exterior cork texture.

This is an original Imperial Japanese Army (IJA) Early Type 90 Helmet Cover in Large Size. This is an early-production example featuring several characteristics associated with the initial pattern. Original Imperial Japanese Army item. Early Type 90 helmet cover. Early-style thin yellow wool star insignia. Original star base sewn without penetrating the lining. Early pattern without the reinforcing drawcord sewn around the outer edge of the hem. This is a scarce early-production example with construction details rarely seen on later versions.
