It has a soldiers name tag or makers label sewn in the crown. Its interesting , in that you can see the cap was constructed with recycled Japanese news paper as an inner crown stiffener....    This is a good example of a War Time Era Japanese Sword carried by an Army Officer during World War II. It is mounted with an ancestral grooved KOTO blade that wears a cutting edge that measures 21 inches in length. The blade has survived in nice condition with only minor surface blemishes and continues to boast a lovely wavy temper line that extends to the tip on either side.
