Douglas MacArthur [1880 1964] was an American general and field marshal of the Philippine Army who was appointed Chief of Staff of the United States Army. MacArthur played a major part during World War II in the war against Japan and was awarded the Medal of Honor for his service in the Philippine Campaign.
