They were used to carry medical supplies to combat areas. The bags have no contents! They are larger 28" x 14" x 6, olive drab web WWI style haversack with all the straps and buckles (some are khaki). None of the packs have stamps and circa 1944. One of the examples which has been opened down the front and then re-closed which makes it look/fit a little bit off-kilter, i think it could be opened and re-sewn with a higher degree of accuracy but then I suppose this is part of its original charm.
