Vintage US Army M43 field trousers 2 buttons were added to the back waist to make it tighter at waist. I believe the buttons were taken from the front waist since they are missing in front and placed near waist adjustments. Buttons can easily be placed back to it's original place but I will leave that up to you since I like to leave things as found and not modify anything.
