This is an original WWII Imperial Japanese Army soldier's service pocketbook (guntaitecho) with its rare celluloid cover. The owner enlisted in January 1937 (Showa 12), participating in key campaigns of the Second Sino-Japanese War, including the Battle of Shanghai, Nanjing (Nanking) Campaign, and Xuzhou Operation. His record details severe front-line fighting and several wounds, leading to his hospitalization and return to Japan in June 1938. He was officially discharged from active duty in May 1939.
